Vittoria Mungai

Even though my background is in Computer Engineering, I’ve always been drawn to biology and genetics. This curiosity never really went away, so I decided to follow it and start a Master’s in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the University of Bern. Now I get to combine my love for coding with biological questions.

On top of that, I now have the chance to work in the lab, where I can see how bioinformatics fits into real research projects and how my analyses can actually support what happens at the bench. It’s exciting to experience firsthand how a bioinformatician can contribute to academic science and collaborative work in a research group.

Outside of studying and working, I enjoy doing sports, spending time with friends, and exploring Switzerland. Since I recently moved here, I still have a lot to discover, from new places to visit to everyday life in a new country.
